The day the light went out

My little girl left this world just 10 days ago. Her name is engraved on my heart forever and her eyes, the only real faculty she had are now closed never to be opened again and this I miss most of all. She could never walk, talk or crawl but she communicated with her eyes. They were always full of love and when she looked at me with those same eyes and  smiled I felt like a king every day.She lived with us for 2 years and eight months and in that time brought us so much happiness. The loss of a child is unimaginable and yet we have managed the first days only because of the support of others. What happens next? who knows. The nine day wonder is over and life must continue again without her. She was diagnosed with AVSD complete, a heart condition that is life limiting but she also had some neurological and physical deficiencies. Soul she had in abundance and joy was her second name. I hope over the next weeks to share my memories and offer hope to those who are on the same path. I will name the grief and identify the loss to help any man who may wish to share his pain, because for our gender death is difficult to come to terms with and sometimes too difficult to share.
